Climate Candidate Giving Circles 2025

The Trump Administration has taken a wrecking ball to climate action – but state and local leaders are fighting back – and the 2025 elections are our opportunity to stop Trump and build momentum for state and local climate action.

In 2025, we’re hosting fundraising parties to raise resources for the most important downballot climate campaigns across the country – sign up to learn more and host your own!

State and local elections are often decided by only a couple of hundred votes – and local campaigns are often underfunded, relying on grassroots donations to turn out voters and win elections. Unlike Presidential or congressional races, important state legislative, utility, and mayoral elections are decided by smaller dollars and your engagement can help ensure they win.

We’re organizing Climate Candidate Giving Circles and asking YOU to bring together your community to help fundraise grassroots dollars for some of the most competitive local races on climate and progress this year.

Invite your friends, family, and like minded neighbors to come together, talk about the stakes of the moment, and raise grassroots dollars – something as simple as a backyard barbecue, cocktail party, or dinner can help raise much needed funds for candidates who will fight back against the Trump Administration’s attacks on climate from the state and local level.

Sign up now to host your own Climate Candidate Giving Circle – we’ll reach out to help you plan!

We’re targeting some of the most competitive and influential down ballot races this year – here’s how your fundraising could support them:

Let’s Flip Virginia!
Virginia is the first purple state in the country to have state legislative elections since the Trump administration took office and acts as a bellwether for how voters are feeling about the White House’s first year. By investing in these races, we have a real opportunity to win a Democratic trifecta in 2026 that could regulate the state’s corrupt utility, hasten the state’s transition to clean energy, and protect abortion access and LGBT rights. And by supporting candidates in competitive districts, we’re helping to get out the vote for Democrats up and down the ballot – and flip the Governor’s mansion for Democrats as well!

Downballot Defiance
While often overlooked, mayoral, city, and county races across the country have a huge impact on climate policy for local communities. While the Trump Administration pulls out of the Paris Accords and is actively working to dismantle climate progress made in the last few decades, we’re supporting local candidates that will transition their communities to renewable energy sources on their own, punish polluters for their damages to our climate,, and push for to move their homes and transit off fossil fuels. We need local climate leaders more than ever right now – AND these races are some of the easiest for us to have an impact on!
