Onward with Alaska RECs!
Electricity in Alaska is largely provided by Rural Electric Coops (RECs) and they are led by coop boards that are elected by ratepayers. This year ratepayers have the opportunity to elect clean energy champions who will protect them from expensive and volatile gas. We’re backing:
- Penny Gage for Chugach Electric Association At-Large: Raised in Southeast Alaska, Gage has extensive experience in energy policy, infrastructure, investment, and economic development, and will bring a fresh perspective to the Chugach Board. Her career has focused on supporting innovative energy technologies in Alaska’s unique energy landscape.
- Patrick Parker for Homer Electric Association District 1: Parker was raised on the Kenai Peninsula, working as a software engineer for the local school district for years. He will continue to use his data analytics skills to work in the HEA boardroom to present member-owners with the best options and diversify the Peninsula’s energy portfolio, bringing clean, local energy to Kenai.
- Mitch Michaud for Homer Electric Association District 2: Michaud is a longtime Soldotna resident and spent his career as a forester, while serving on boards such as the Kenai Watershed Forum. Now, he wants to serve his community on the HEA board, advocating for board transparency and the implementation of alternative energy sources like solar, wind, and hydro.
