Wisconsin’s climate future is on the local ballot this April
Two experienced climate activists are running for office in Wisconsin with plans to bring 100% renewable energy and improved public transit to rural parts of the state. While the future make up of the state legislature remains uncertain, these candidates are stepping up to win bold change at the municipal level. Garner Moffat and Jeremy Gragert won’t let the fossil fuel industry or allied utility companies write the rules.
- Garner Moffat for Superior City Council District 3: Moffat is a community leader whose advocacy helped block the construction of NTEC, a proposed natural gas power plant in Superior. He has several climate plans for the city, including creating a utility to protect resident’s energy rates and water supply.
- Jeremy Gragert for Eau Claire City Council President: Gragert is an organizer with Citizen Action of Wisconsin and has served on the Eau Claire City Council where he led on setting the city’s 100% renewable energy & carbon neutrality goal. If elected, he wants to pass fare free public transit, expand bus service, bring solar to city buildings, and expand biker and pedestrian walkways.
